In addition to the original having been sorted by custom code, all the output data was also again checked by running every file through Xrotor to make sure it was functional, and also each file was checked to make sure the x coordinates increased and decreased only once, verifying the Drela format.The airfoils can be used by every private person. The purpose of the вЂњundetailedвЂќ file folder is to allow you to easily reference the same file you found in the other folder, without having to get the exact syntax right to locate the file for import, or even include all the information at all. With the information displayed in the вЂњdetailedвЂќ folder, airfoils with similar camber and thickness values are easily found by simply using ctrl f in the file browser. In both folders, the actual data in the file is always pure airfoil coordinates, so nothing can interfere with import into another program. The вЂњundetailedвЂќ folder contains the same data, but with less cluttered file names. The вЂњdetailedвЂќ folder contains the thickness, thickness location, camber, and maximum camber location in the filename as a suffix to the original file name. I hope everyone is able to use this data to help them more easily and quickly make their own ideas.

Now, if everything goes right, we can move on to the spline fits we meant to do originally. With a little motivation from the community and some good suggestions, I went ahead and made a little program to correct most of these issues that were preventing us from making 100% satisfactory spline fits before. It was definitely interfering with our splines that were anchored at 0,0 and 1,(trailing edge thickness) Having no uniform airfoil data, can lead to errors in airfoil simulation, or errors in CAD programs, or worse yet, unnoticed errors or perturbations in either, and unfair airfoil comparisons.

Some people would even leave double data points for the leading edge in their airfoil files, because they had used two curves to draw the airfoil, and they both terminated in the same location. Some people like to eyeball their curves, and donвЂ™t really mind if they donвЂ™t pass through 0,0 exactly. Some people seem to have like drawing their airfoils on the x axis, as if they were resting on a table. it turns out that A LOT of the airfoils in that library where not drawn uniformly, either by their original designers, or by the catalogers.
